Why I teach guitar and piano
I’ve been teaching guitar and piano for 15 years now and something that has never left me is my passion for teaching. It brings me great joy to see students start from complete beginner to advanced players. Even seeing students conquer hurdles along the way is really rewarding. I’d love to help you achieve your goals on guitar or piano.
I teach electric guitar, acoustic guitar and classical guitar at my studio in Borehamwood. I teach students from age 6 upwards and have plenty of retired students too – it’s never too late to learn the guitar. I cover a wide range of styles over the three types of guitar including classical, blues, rock, soul, jazz, funk, pop, reggae and many more. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced player, I have plenty of knowledge to share with you to help you be the best player you can be.
Just like the guitar there are many styles that can be performed on the piano. I tend to teach classical, jazz, r&b and pop but if there is a niche style you’d like to learn we can work on that too. Whether you want to learn to read sheet music or play by ear I can help you achieve your goals.
One on One Lessons
I offer one on one guitar and piano lessons at my studio in Borehamwood. This type of learning is great for those looking for a personalised lesson plan. Each lesson is catered to your unique musical interests and goals. You can learn at your own pace and not feel pressured to play something because you haven’t nailed it first time.
Taking Music Grades
Are you looking to take grades on guitar or piano? If so, you’ve come to the right place. I offer guitar and piano lessons for those looking to go through the grading system. My preferred board is Trinity College London but I also have some students that prefer the syllabus from ABRSM and that’s fine with me.

“If anyone is looking for a guitar teacher in London I can whole heartedly recommend Sheldon Conrich. He’s so patient and generous and every lesson is well thought out and tailored to suit my taste in music. I’ve had a lot of instrumental lessons in my time and he really stands out as a wonderful teacher. I’m improving a lot and enjoying playing more than ever. So pleased I came across him!”
Alice Boagey, photographer
“Sheldon”s a knowledgeable, flexible and really good teacher. He quickly sensed how I ‘tick’ so knows how and when to introduce new skills and approaches – when to let me wait a bit and when to challenge again. He has helped to make learning the guitar – even at my age – the high spot of my life!”
Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer, journalist and author
“I have been having guitar lessons with Sheldon for nearly 15 months now. Sheldon is an extremely skilled and easy to work with teacher whose experience and versatility has helped me immensely to enhance my guitar playing skills.
